Record overview.
TICON-4 data basis
TICON-4 is a catalogue of harmonic tidal constants by DGFI-TUM, computed from the GESLA-4 tide gauge records and published under CC BY 4.0. Harmonic Tide calculates with these constants on the watch.

What do these data mean?
- Station type
Coastal, river or lake: where the gauge sits according to TICON-4. In rivers the tide is often more distorted than on the open coast.
- Record period
Start and end of the record show which historical data the constants were estimated from.
- Years & measurements
How many years of data exist and how many single measurements went into the analysis. Long records pin down slow constituents better.
- Missing observations
The share of gaps in the time series. Small gaps are normal and rarely affect the constants.
- Standard deviations
The uncertainty of the estimated amplitudes and phases. It is no error guarantee for the later prediction.
- On the watch
The watch keeps only the constituents that noticeably change high and low water at this station. The others are listed here for completeness.
